Most of the time after installing a chip your required to use a higher octane gas, so you may want to hold off until gas prices go down. You'll also need to use a lower temp thermostat in some cases. Chips can be used to remove the speed limiters and increase performance slightly. It is said the increase is more noticeable on automatic transmissions because it better optimises the shift points.
